What are APP Waterproofing Membranes?

An A.P.P Waterproofing Membrane is a special waterproofing material made from Bitumen commonly used on concrete flat roofs or roofs with a low pitch.

How are APP Waterproofing Membranes packaged?

APP Waterproofing Membranes are packaged in rolls. Each roll weighs between 30kg to 50kg, measures 10 meters by 1 meter and covers an average area of 8.7 m² (considering that they overlap). Their thickness ranges between 3mm and 5mm. They can either be plain which means they have no granule coating or with granules which means they have a mineral finish.

Where are APP Waterproofing Membranes used?

APP Waterproofing Membranes are used for waterproofing of low sloped roofs, (also commonly referred to as flat roofs), basements, retaining walls, and concrete gutters.

Can I use APP Waterproofing in areas that experience high temperatures?

Yes, APP waterproofing membranes are made from specially treated bitumen which makes them stronger and with better climatic changes impact resistance. The APP membranes used on exposed surfaces such as balconies and rooftops also have a granules mineral-like coating to enhance their UV resistance qualities.

How are APP Waterproofing Membranes applied?

The application method is through a heated blow-torch making the surface bonding stronger and consistent.

Do you require to cover the App after installation?

We recommend covering of App waterproofing membrane with interlocking tiles or screed if the area is trafficable (people walk on the area).

Can I walk on the APP covered slab after installation?

No, the APP waterproofing membranes covered roofs are not trafficable. Should you need to have heavy traffic on these roofs, then they should be covered with interlocking tiles.

How do they compare with other liquid based waterproofing chemicals?

Unlike the APP waterproofing membranes, most liquid waterproofing chemicals do not perform well when exposed to direct sunlight. Liquid waterproofing chemicals are therefore mostly recommended for internal use such as bathrooms and kitchen areas that will not be exposed to the harsh UV Rays.
